A unique, farm style building within the working yard of Kande Horse Trails, The Stables Guest House offers 3 beautiful second story rooms overlooking the open stables with access to large covered balcony areas which are ideal for relaxing with a great book while taking in the beautifully wooded surrounds. The Stables is full of unusual quirks with an ancient farm tractor called “Tom” carrying out daily chores, a Morris Minor rusting in peace after an epic journey from London to Cape Town is proudly parked in front of the house guarded by a certifiable duck committed to pestering the stables Great Dane at every opportunity! Offering riding packages to guests of all abilities, The Stables is located some 4km from Lake Malawi. Riding packages include
accommodation, meals and an average of 5 hours riding per day.
Facilities and Activities
Situated in 60 acres of Brachystegia forest and open grazing, Kande Horse offers a range of equine activities for all abilities of riders including lessons, rides, swimming with the horses in the lake and Polocrosse tuition.
Kande Horse has 28 horses of a variety sizes, ages, capabilities and breeds, including ex-racing Thoroughbreds to Basotho Ponies. All levels of riders are welcomed at Kande Horse and with such a broad range of horses we can match every rider to the most suitable horse although we regret there is a rider weight limit of 95kg.
Tack includes both English saddles and Australian stock saddles. In addition to broad access to riding in the local area of forest, floodplains and beaches, Kande Horse also has a sand arena and Polocrosse field. All of our activities cater for the ability of the individual clients, to offer the most enjoyable experience possible.

Owner profile
The owners of The Stables are English couple Johnny and Adila who have built up the business over the last seven years. Johnny has a lifetime of equine experience and at least 8 years of over-landing work behind him and with Adila's previous work in tourism and hospitality, they are very welcoming and knowledgeable hosts. The yard is also home to the friendly family dogs, cats and ducks, always ready to make any visitor very welcome.
