The Jackal-Berry tree house is built around three live African Ebony trees (Diospyros mespiliformis) with unspoilt views out across a natural dambo and lagoon system favoured by elephant and giraffe.
The tree house has three main decks which are around six feet high with wooden decks and stairways to reach the spacious sitting area and open-plan bedrooms. Each bedroom has open air en-suite facilities with hot shower, flush toilet and sink. One bedroom has a Queen-sized bed with mosquito net, the other bedroom has either two single beds or these may be pushed together to make a King if there are two couples sharing the house.
The sitting deck has a sofa and two easy chairs for enjoying the view out over the dambo and watching the game which wanders past the house, oblivious to your presence. Guests are welcome to dine at the house, under the stars, or join the rest of the guests at camp in the restaurant.
Jackal-Berry Tree House is designed to offer guests an exclusive, relaxed yet almost unique wildlife experience. As an alternative to the main Flatdogs accommodation, guests are invited to join in all the activities and excursions available to other guests, but then retreat to their own exclusive house as and when they like to, where they can enjoy their very own game-viewing from the comfort of bed! Game drives, night drives and walking safaris are conducted by experienced, professional safari guides and walks are accompanied by a National Parks armed scout. For a group of four staying in the Treehouse, private game drives are guaranteed.

Jess has been in the South Luangwa on and off since 1992 and has been involved in African wildlife safaris ever since. Both Jess and her husband Ade and their partner, Paolo have incorporated their creative ideas and individual views of the Zambian safari experience in creating the special Flatdogs experience. They have worked together over the last six years to develop Flatdogs from a simple backpacker joint, into the friendly yet organised haven for wildlife aficionados that it is today,
